Dear Hazel,
Today, you are THREE!
You are a delightful little human. You make me LAUGH. Oh, how you make me laugh! You make yourself laugh, too, and that makes me laugh. You have a snickery heeheehee when you've really tickled yourself, a bubbly giggle when you know you're being funny, a muahaha when you're being mischievous, and everything in between.
You love to read. You could sit and look through books for hours. Today, you "read" me Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? (I'll see if I can post the video.) You will be reading-for-real in no time, I'm sure. You point out your favorite letters (H, O, D, M come to mind). You love to write H's and M's.
You love to play and tell stories. You create elaborate worlds for your toys, with dialogue and narration. You have quite an imagination!
You like to sing. "Hello, How Are You?" (which I poorly translated to "Hola, Como Estas?") is/are your favorite. You also like to sing "Jingle Bells", "Trot Old Joe", "Mr. Rabbit, Mr. Rabbit", and some rhymes you learned at school, like "The Chubby Little Snowman". If you're not playing or reading, you're probably singing.
You are still into Paw Patrol, Tangled, and most recently, Sonic (or "Somic"... as in The Hedgehog).

Well. This is a bit of a theme with me. The above was written on your third birthday, and here I am on September 24th coming back to it. A lot has happened in the last almost-six months!
First of all, we had a FANTASTIC summer. We swam, we played, we traveled (the lake house in Wisconsin and then Kansas City for a family reunion). We went to museums, the zoo, the Long Grove Strawberry Festival, the race track, and so much more!
School started earlier this month. You LOVE it. You really love it. Oliver started about three weeks before you did, and you asked to go almost every day. You are learning so much. You recognize most of your letters and numbers, you love doing art projects, and you love playing with your friends.
Your favorite foods are beans (black, mostly, but also refried), ham sandwiches on circle bread with mayonnaise (you'd just eat bread and mayo if I'd let you), and watermelon. You are not a huge fan of most veggies (carrots aside) or, to be honest, many fruits. You like watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, and apples. You love bread and pasta. And yogurt. But you are not terribly keen on meats, although you will eat a few bites per meal. And milk. You really love milk.
Your favorite animal holds strong at the giraffe. You recently started talking about an imaginary friend, your sister named Mommy who has long, dark hair. Recently, as in the last few days, so we will see if she sticks around. You love playing with your "girls" (Wonder Woman and Batgirl), your baby doll Annalisa, your squirrel puppet Squirrely, and your doll stroller. You love painting rocks with glitter glue.
You do not much care for riding bikes or scooters, even though you have both.
At almost-three-and-a-half, you are a delightful little human to have around. You are wise beyond your years, funny, and kind. You still share without being asked. You sing, play make believe, build forts with your brother, and snuggle on the couch.
Love you, my little Hazelty!
