Seven Months

Dear Hazel,

Seven months already?  How can it be? (And look at me, ON TIME and everything!)

You just get happier and more fun as the days go on!  You love to talk.  You will sit for what feels like ages, just babbling and squealing.  Sometimes, you and Oliver will sit together and squeal.  He's been closing the bedroom door while you're together on the bed and I can hear you laughing together.  You'll squeal, he'll squeal.  It's adorable!

You really started solids this month!  I've been giving you mostly one or two new things a week, because I can make a large-ish batch on the weekend and then send it with you to daycare every day.  So far, you've had avocado, spaghetti squash, green beans (not your fav), pumpkin, banana, and sweet potato.

Well, your good sleep of the last several months seems to have gone out the window.  I think it's partially our fault.  You started waking up a few times a night, and because you and Oliver were sharing a room, you would wake him up.  So... now you're sleeping in our room.  You're waking up 3-5 times a night wanting to nurse, and I don't know if you'd do the same if you were in your crib... man.  Sleep is hard!

But... nursing all night had you gain a pound in three weeks (measured fairly unofficially).  You went from 14 pounds 2 ounces naked to 15.6 pounds (which I'll equate to about 15 pounds 9 ounces - weighed at my WW meeting) in a dry diaper and clothes.  I'll call it a pound.  So, that's good!

Near the very end of the month, you started scooting backwards if I put you on your tummy.  I'm not ready for you to be mobile!

You have started getting upset when people leave the room.  I'm not sure when this started, but I noticed recently that it's been going on for some amount of time, at least.  I used to take you downstairs, set you down, run back up for my things (or Oliver, when he insists on being carried), and you'd be fine.  Now, the minute I'm out of site, you start to cry.

A lot of "events" happened this month!  You met your two uncles and your Great Grandma Margaret and Great Grandpa Oliver when all of your Dad's family came to visit for the weekend.  Then, you took your first flight!  You and I flew to Chicago to go to your Aunt Jessica's baby shower, where you met a whole bunch of my side of the family.  You did GREAT on the flight!  And lastly, your first Halloween!

Also needing a mention, your first cousin was born on October 30th!  Baby J made his entrance to the world a little more than two weeks early.  I can't wait for all of us to meet him at Christmas!

Your seventh month was another big one.  Busy with growing and learning and doing!

Love you to pieces, Sweet Pea!
