Four Months!
Dear Hazel,
You are one-third of a year old! You are, right now, laying on the bed behind me making all sorts of noises. Yes, you really found your voice! More than just coos, you gasp and exclaim and laugh. Oh, do you laugh!
Noodle legs are a thing of the past! Okay, not entirely. But you found you love "standing". You also love sitting up, supported.
You've discovered your feet, and you love to hold onto them. You love to kick. (You're kicking on the bed behind me, too.) You hold the soles of your feet together like your brother did, "evil plotting toes" as Dad likes to call them.
Rolling is not your thing, but you can wiggle around and scoot yourself down and around on your mat.
A few weeks ago, you had an ear infection. It was NO FUN. Your first fever, your first medicine, your first pain. Ow.
You might be teething a little bit. I thought you were teething, but then it was that ear infection. You're awfully drooly, though, and you like to chew on my fingers. So... maybe. We'll see!
Grandma Melanie visited and you went on your very first beach trip, and your very first symphony (rehearsal of the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl).
Sleep is... mostly good. Thank you. You require a double swaddle now, a Miracle Blanket under a velcro swaddle. That usually gets you through the night, except for the nights it doesn't. There's apparently a four-month sleep regression, and you might be in it, or heading for it. I would appreciate it if you could sleep well once I go back to work in two-and-a-half weeks (sniff!).
Your four-month appointment is not until Tuesday, so I'll update with your stats later.
Oliver loves you to pieces. He loves giving you kisses, and in return, you love smiling at him whenever you see him.
Sometimes, you are very serious. You've always had a little furrow in your brow when you're in a serious mood, and when you are, there's not much anyone can do to get you to smile. But when you're in a smiley mood, oh boy do you smile and laugh and giggle and grin!
Love, love, love you!
*Let's just note, for the record, that this was posted ON August 2, the day you actually turned four months!
