Busy is the name of the game. I've started several posts in the past month and haven't gotten past the first paragraph in any of them. That's why Oliver's 10-month post is coming over a week late.
Dear Oliver,
Ten months. One year is right around the corner! We're already busy planning your first birthday party, which will be a joint celebration with your friend J, who is 9 days younger than you are.
You did your first legitimate solo art project, for which I was more excited than you were. You just wanted to eat the paint. Which was edible, thank goodness, but not tasty, you silly kid!
The "big" holiday this month was Valentine's Day. I did a bad job as a mom. I didn't send you to daycare with Valentines for your classmates, and I might have been the only mom who didn't. Are you scarred for life? I hope not.
You want to walk. You had your first real go with the walker a few weeks ago, and now you're a pro. You have a bit to go with keeping your balance on your own, though, so I think it'll still be a while before you take steps alone.
We took you on your first mini roadtrip over President's Day weekend, a trip to Oakland to visit "Uncle P and Aunt L". You were a trooper in the car. The drive up was easier on you, since we left after work Friday night, and you zonked out right after dinner, which happened about an hour in to our drive, and snoozed the rest of the way. (I took a little hour-long nap, too, so thank Dad for being the driver.) We got in about 1:00 in the morning. The drive home was all during the day, and it took us almost 9 hours to drive back, including stops. We stopped for a bit to visit Dad's friend C, we stopped at Pea Soup Andersen's for lunch, and we stopped at a rest area to "run around" mid-afternoon.
In Oakland, we did some hiking both days, and I think you really liked it. Although, the second day you fell asleep in the carrier. All that fresh air is exhausting!
So, yes. Ten months! Ten fabulous months, and many more to come!
Love you!
